Publications
FAO
Several papers have been published in referee journals, annual reports, proceedings (symposiums, workshops, congresses, etc.) aimed at developing and promoting productive sustainable forms of land use and management. Since 1987, many contributions and technical notes have been prepared for the FAO’s AG, AGL and Soil Conservation group Newsletters. See also the list of my publications from 1970 to 2007.
Expert systems and databases
• (2002) A web site was created for LADA, the Global Environment Facility
(GEF) funded a Project Development Framework (PDF) meeting was convened in Rome,
23-25 January 2002. Materials referring to the LADA project can be found at
the following website: http://www.fao.org/ag/agl/agll/lada/
• (2000) A multimedia kit including a database and an electronic archive
for Problem Soils (ProSoil)has been inserted in the AGLL web page http://www.fao.org/ag/agl/agll/prosoil/index.htm.
ProSoil can be used: to quickly get an overview of selected types of problem
soils
• (1999) Originator of a computerised, prototype version of a Global Directory
of Long-term Agronomic Experiments comprising 89 experiments has been inserted
in the AGLL web page http://www.fao.org/ag/agl/agll/globdir/index.htm.
Each experiment provides a picture of how agricultural systems in Asia, Africa,
The Americas and Australia affected their physical environment and how their
ability to provide food has varied over time.
• (1997) Prototype for computerised decision support system for soil management
options using the Fertility Capability Classification (FCC3) and linking to
an integrated soils database (WISE database) that could automatically assigns
22 modifiers of potential soil constraints from a menu of soils from specific
regions and provides textual descriptions of the potential limitations.
The prototype of the installed in the FAO-AGL Web Site: http://www.fao.org/WAICENT/FAOINFO/AGRICULT/AGL/agll/fcc3.htm

Databases for Conservation Agriculture
One databases were developed in support of technology transfer for Conservation
Agriculture in Africa. This undertaking was carried out in collaboration with
GTZ and the German Association for Conservation Tillage (GKB)
