in identifying and designing the training component of a World Bank-funded project.

• RLAC (1991-1995): Formulation, implementation and technical backstopping
Officer for Project GCP/RLA/107/JPN " Support for sustainable agriculture
through land conservation and rehabilitation in Latin America". Participating
countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile and Paraguay.
• Peru (1992): Project document formulation for "Support to the Highlands
Peasant Communities in Food Crop Production". Under negotiation with the
Government of Switzerland.
• Argentina (1992): Project formulation for the Government of Chaco aimed
at increasing agricultural productivity on a sustainable basis with emphasis
on small farmers, reducing at the same time the risk of natural resource degradation
by maintaining their productivity.
• Chile (1993): Member of the FAO/World Bank Co-operative Programme Mission
"Chile Secano Agricultural Development Project I".
• El Salvador (1993): Project document formulation for the Government

The project is carried out by SDAR, ATS AGLL and promoted the conservation agriculture
system “Quesungual”.
• El Salvador (2000 up to date): Trust fund project on Sustainable Agriculture
in Hilly areas of El Salvador GCP/ELS/005/NET. The project promotes CA in grain
crops, livestock and vegetable production at Microcatchment level.
• Cuba (1998-2000): TCP project on Conservationist and Sustainable Management
of Sugar Cane (TCP/CUB/8822) The project successfully implemented a participatory
development of Conservation Agriculture Technologies for Sugar Cane Areas in
Cuba (LTU AGLL, ATS AGSE).
• Bolivia (2000-2001): TCP project on Soil and water management in support
of SPFS programme in Tarija (TCP/BOL/0065). Training course and field demonstrations
on integrated microwatershed and CA was a mayor activity in this TCP.
• Peru (2000-2001): TCP project on Assistance to protect the dam Gallito
Ciego from sedimentation (TCP TCP/PER/0167). CA was promoted for the upper watershed
to prevent sedimentation of the mentioned dam. (LTU AGLW. ATS AGLL) (Consultant
report).
• Venezuela (2000) formulación de una propuesta UTF para la Zonificación
Agroecológica y Socioeconómica (ZAE) Nacional y Evaluación
del Uso de la Tierra en Venezuela.
• Eritrea (2001 up to date): TCP/ERI/0170 Introduction of Conservation
Agriculture has been putting in operation November 2001.
• Mexico (2001): Assisted the government in the definition of a strategy
and policies to improve production systems, these being incorporated into the
National Development Plan.
