Major Achievemnents
- FAO Representative in Argentina managing from 2006 to 2007 14 Proyectos
de Cooperación Técnica y 9 proyectos regionales. Advice to the
Goverment in climate change adaptation link with rural development and food
security. Successful implementation of a Worldwide Programme named "Conservation
Agriculture" based on three principles: no mechanical soil disturbance,
permanent soil cover and crop rotation.
- Increasing the farmer's acceptance of new forms of soil and water conservation,
especially in developing countries and countries in transition, reducing wastage
of fuel, inputs, time and thereby increasing their profits.
- Achieving the formation of a multidisciplinary working group in FAO named
Conservation Agriculture Working Group.
- Successfully organising international congresses (I World Congress on Conservation
Agriculture, Madrid, 15 October 2001; II World Congress on Conseration Agriculture,
Foz do Iguazu, 11 August 2003), training courses (I International Training
Course for North African and Middle East countries at Vasto, Italy) workshops
at FAO Headquarters and in several countries.
- Promoting conservation agriculture through major networks such as the African
Conservation Tillage Network, the European Conservation Agriculture Federation
and the Latin American Conservation Agriculture Networks.
